3 Quick Reminders as You Grow Your Brand + Biz
It was a full weekend and I was totally immersed in the magic of New Hampshire summer here on the pond.
It got me thinking about a few key things I've been tossing around in my mind that I thought might be helpful to you too.
1. Rest isn't a luxury you earn, it's a necessity to keep your human body functioning.
We have a pretty jacked up understanding of the work-rest dynamic in the culture of our world. I used to think that resting was a sign of weakness and naps were a form of failure. It's embarrassing to say that out loud now, to be honest. But the fear of failure was so strong and my insecurities about my own inadequacies mixed in made for a pretty dysfunctional dynamic.
Please hear me say this if you need this message today: exhaustion is not a badge of honor, it's exhaustion and it makes you a limited version of yourself in every aspect of your life. Getting the proper rest you need - even if that means you can't tick all of the boxes you said you would - is the greatest life hack there is.
For my mamas who are in a season of sleep deprivation, I honor and salute you. I also encourage you to listen to your body for the feedback it's giving you so you can support it accordingly with help requests and sleep arrangements that make sleep an actual possibility for you and your loves.
2. Your business is about so much more than money.
I don't know about you, but making my business all about the money feels really boring. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE abundance, I LOVE money, I LOVE being able to do the things I want to do financially and help others do the same...BUT...it's the visions and the dreams that money plays one small part in that really lights me up.
I was reading a quote by Abraham Hicks that read, "As you set a financial goal, it is not only about the expansion for yourself; it’s about the expansion of all of those who are involved in that which you are about. In other words, it creates this nucleus, this machine, that allows so many to begin to thrive along with you. It’s much bigger than finances." And these words made me want to do a backflip!
YES!!!
Your business is here to help you expand.
It's here to help humanity to expand. Your business is about so much more than the numbers on the spreadsheet.
3. Confidence is an inside job.
One of the biggest struggle spots for so many I talk to in a week is a lack of confidence. There seems to be this notion that confidence comes from others and accolades. And with this equation, we work ourselves away never feeling good enough.
The definition of the word confidence, according to dictionary.com is "belief in oneself and one's powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance."
Can you read that one again??
"Confidence is belief in oneself and one's powers or abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance."
Confidence is an inside job. You become more confident by giving yourself opportunities to witness your capacity and to amplify your understanding of you. Working with a coach or mentor (otherwise known as a mirror) can help you to bolster yourself as you are growing. Building your confidence, however, is about you and you and youuuu and it's what makes life so much more fun!
At the end of the day, you are the hero of your own journey.
You are the one riding in on the white horse.
Tally ho!
Have a great week!!
