the math of multi-dimensional success (powerful exercise inside)
There has been a much deeper conversation swirling around the internet and coaching industry as of late and I am really digging it.
Call it the algorithm, call it the awakening...call it whatever you want - it's unfolding right before our eyes.
A NEW version of success is taking center stage and it's one that matches the MODEL of our businesses with our visions for our lives & our zones of genius.
This has been the focal point for me for the last 10+ years, but in all honesty, it has felt haaardddd to hold it at times.
So many of us have been carrying this ever-present feeling like we're failing or we're not "there yet" because we haven't crossed the elusive, holographic thresholds that are so highly sought after and celebrated by the masses.
And after hitting so many of those targets...I am humbly reminded that there is a very important question that comes with every "great success" story I hear about...
At. What. Cost?
Because the truth is - there's a trade-off in all things:
The hours the writer spends penning his books.
The intensity of fame the one with the golden voice must endure.
The weighty demands of the machine the CEO has to carry.
The milestones missed in the lives of their kids.
Everything in life comes with an exchange >>> no matter what sort of semantics we wrap around it.
Learning how to temper and tend to the facets of multi-dimensional success while honoring our deeply held values is an art - a form of deep and exquisite devotion.
Putting this into personal practice looks like sacrifices and boundaries, missing out on things intentionally and honoring the sacred yeses of my life to stay tethered to what's most essential.
After all is said and done, the "end game" is about the experiences I'm having while I'm here (and the people I want to spend my moments with).
Knowing we're all just a breath away from a different reality helps me root into what matters at each and every turn.
Holding this knowing with others is an offering I feel privileged to share.
As we look to the horizon of 2024, a year that undoubtedly promises to bring new challenges with it - especially as our generation witnesses the realities of what is with clearer eyes - it is deeply necessary to be weaving our humanity into our work, our relationships, our businesses and beyond.
Gone are the days of pretending the ache isn't there.
We will grow at the depth of truth we're willing to personally and collectively embrace.
There is so much good here - enough to counterbalance and eventually outweigh the dark.
The sun doesn't stop shining its light - even when the earth turns away from it.
As you contemplate the New Year energetics and your plans for what's ahead in your life and business in 2024, be sure to center your unique and multi-dimensional version of success.
If you were to draw a pie chart representing the most important facets of your life...
What would be featured?
What would each slice reflect?
How much of your life force/time are you devoting to the things you value most?
In doing this exercise myself, I learned that in a 16-hour work day, I'm currently spending (on average) 8 hours with family, 3 hours or less on self-care (and this is a daily discipline I've gotta carve out otherwise it's more 1 hour!) and 5 hours or less on work.
In this season of my life with little kids, I have 3 days like this in my week (right now it's T,W,Th).
Mondays & Fridays have a blend of homeschool, home life, travel/errands and more self-care woven in usually with about an hour of work.
I felt pretty pleased with this scaffolding, since I made the decision 10 years ago to create my business to provide ample time for my family and smaller bursts of creative/work time to create, coach, etc.
If we really get into the math of this chapter of motherhood - there is a bigger hands-on demands here than there will be down the path.
This is my version of success right now and digging into the exercise...
Changes for me in this season look like refining my model, trying some new things in the new year with the build out of the Tree Haus (our in-person/on-property space for intensive strategy/coaching sessions) and solidifying the self-care practices that energize and enliven me.
Over to you....
In reviewing your pie chart, is your life set-up in accordance with what you value MOST right now (most days)?
>> If not, where do you need to make some edits?
>> What are the CLEAR misalignments popping off the page?
>> What kind of support do you need to create a plan for change?
I hope today's message brings up some hearty questions, thoughts and openings for you to explore in these days ahead.
Thank you for journeying with me along the path.
It is a real joy for me to sit down on these Sunday mornings to write to you.
Wishing you a beautiful holiday break in these coming days!
Happy Holidays & Much Love,
xo
