My top 5 takeaways from last week's trip 🧳
I just got home from my first trip in almost 2 years and I have so much to share with you.
I attended a mastermind retreat to workshop my business and connect with a collection of amazing souls out in Phoenix last week.
Mastermind retreats are hands-down one of my favorite ways to grow and learn in ways that online courses and virtual coaching can't touch.
The connections, the laughter, the memories and the ways in which we get to expand beyond the patterns and programs we've been running behind our screens at home is invaluable.
Among so many things, the loss of these live experiences is one of the greatest tragedies of the global pandemic we've all been surviving through.
I could not be more excited to safely return to experiences like the one I had last week and have notes from inside the room I want to share with you.
Here are the top 5 takeaways I brought home from my experience last week:
1. You know how to drive.
On the first day of the retreat, we got behind the wheel of high-performance race cars. There was a super potent training session with metaphors galore from the instructor, reminding us to "Keep your vision on where you're going versus where you are." It turns out we hit less cones when we let our peripheral vision do its job and keep our focus on the target of where we want to go.
When we hit the track, I was exceptionally nervous about how I was going to handle the vehicle and whether or not I knew what to do. As I hit the gas on that first leg of our relay race, I realized within seconds that this was just like driving at home, only with a lot less rules. The truth is, I know how to drive, my only job was to do it to the best of my ability in that moment and focus on what was in front of me. << What a powerful reminder for the day to day in our businesses!
2. You can't hit what you're not aiming for.
Everyday I talk with big dreamers and visionaries who are trying to figure out how to get to their goals. One of the most common themes I see, though, is that most people will focus their attention on the stepping stones along the path to their dream rather than let their dream lead them to the ultimate destination.
When we're aiming for our next level, we have to actually point our arrow in that direction. What's more...so many of us are looking for strategies to get out of what we don't want, which leads us to more of what ew don't want.
What changes when we aim for what we really desire and only that?
3. Good to great is much more challenging than bad to good.
When things are great, we become protective of what we have and suddenly we stop focusing on our continued growth. In effect, we go from being offensive to defensive and when we're playing defense the whole game, there's no chance we're going to score any goals.
Striking the balance of creating ample opportunity to continue to win in our world, while also maintaining a solid foundation of structure, safety and the systems to support it all is the task that finds many achievers getting stuck along the path. This framework feels highly impactful to implement in a growth trajectory. I don't have an easy fix on how to make what feels hard less hard, but one thing I know for certain, is that mentorship, coaching support and peer-to-peer experiences where I can be challenged and supported is a necessary ingredient in my life and business. How about you?
4. You've gotta speak up for the right people to show up.
This one might seem obvious, but over and over again, it is the most consistent challenge my clients seem to face. Consistency in the conversation with your clients paired with a clear call to action is the golden ticket to growth in your business. Which one of these do you need support with? What are you creating and how are you holding yourself accountable to stay in the conversation?
5. Spending time with fellow dreamers who are doing BIG things will change your life.
So many of us are the biggest dreamer in our circle of influence. This is not a knock on your loved ones, but it is a loving invitation to make sure you're creating space in your life to spend time with others who are dreaming beyond where you've limited yourself in the areas in which you wish to grow.
Our perspectives will always be limited by what we can see or imagine is possible.
Being exposed to new possibilities, expanded views on wealth and abundance and different ways of thinking is vital. Over the last 7 years, one of the fundamental commitments I've made to my growth journey has been to push beyond comfort zones and gift myself experiences that stretch my perspective and show me other ways of living, giving and being. This is the place where the quantum shifts happen.
What about you?
I'm curious, which one of these points stood out the most for you?
Which one is inviting you to take some much needed inspired action?
Wishing you the most beautifully abundant week ahead.
Big Love, always,
xo
