little big things + a poem for you
I *officially* took the plunge and started bringing my poetry and prompts to my latest speaking opportunities.
And decided that I would start sharing them here too...
As a published author/poet, this sounds like an obvious and simple thing to do...
But, sometimes seemingly little things feel like really big things.
This is one of those moments.
So, here’s a poem for your Sacred Sunday:
A love letter to you…
Sweet dreamer, thank you.
For saying yes, when your fear meant to say no.
For picking up what was easier to put down.
For staying the course and finding the courage.
For letting the invisible knowing lead your life.
Those songs.
That art.
These words.
The way they've saved me, again and again.
From the valleys and the depths,
From the hopeless hollows,
From the tidal waves taking me under.
Thank you, sweet dreamer, for answering the call through storms and nameless sorrow,
Through lonely nights and empty glasses.
Down those wondering, wandering roads.
Thank you, sweet dreamer, for taking your tragedy and turning it into gold,
And awe-inspiring alchemy transmuting into truth.
Thank you, sweet dreamer, for giving me my life back.
For the trials, I’ll never know about
And the mountains I’ll never have to climb.
Here are the prompts:
+ What mountains have you climbed and what does sharing yourself/your story give to others?
+ Think of an artist whose work you love. What has it inspired in you + your life?
+ How has your work become a way of saying thank you?
