if it feels like it's falling apart... (read this)
I'm a day late to Sacred Sunday. Summer has been showing off over here...
But the message came in hot this Monday morn, so I'm sitting at the kitchen counter with folded laundry all around me and the timer my son started before the family left for camp drop off ticking in the background.
As someone who hates to be rushed, the unrelenting rhythm is too ironic.
I tried to turn it off but I couldn't figure it out - so here we are.
Cue Alanis...
So here's the thing under the thing we need to talk about today:
There is a great and rapid unraveling happening...
I am sure you can feel it.
It's the reveal that's reordering and reorganizing every single thing in real time at lightning speed.
It is requiring us to take a closer look - reading glasses ON - bedside lamps lit - at what really matters to us.
It's asking us to hit the pause button and STOP mid-sentence to ask ourselves if that's really the thing we mean to say before we say it.
It's being willing to take the whole thing down to the studs to build it right from here forward.
It's backing up the dumpster and getting ready to ditch all of the plastic heirlooms and inherited beliefs still running the way we have been living - because we know it starts and ends with us.
It's refreshing, terrifying and real.
It's also the threshold of a completely new life.
Congratulations, we're here.
Every bit of blind compliance and good girl performative ways we've shown up in our lives and businesses are on the chopping block.
You might be saying, "But where do I begin?"
You feel something is off - but you're too close to it to really name it.
I've got you.
Here's a few prompts to help - or flip your world upside down - same same, right?
Who am I when no one is watching?
What do I want to do on a day when no one is expecting anything from me?
How do I move when my life is no longer a transaction I am making good on in order to survive?
What is the thing I really want to say, create, activate right now in my world?
Your answers are a truth that can be trusted.
Maybe read that again and really go for it.
It takes an enormous amount of gumption to let your art lead your life.
And it's why most of us don't, won't and haven't witnessed many models of people who have.
I think it's imperative to remind you that your business is an art form...
If you have yet to put this together - and you've read this far - you're ready now.
It takes an even greater amount of ingenuity and grit to figure how you're going to make it work in this capitalistic operating system our world is wired to uphold.
