a new poem I’ve never shared
Anni and I are away this weekend with a dear friend celebrating our birthdays (from back in September and April) by seeing our favorite band two nights in a row. #groupiemode
I love watching live music for the very same reason I love being a poet.
There's something that happens when we cross our inner threshold to enter the terrain of truth.
It's the place where our art emerges.
And here's the thing about that...
The creations that result when we put down our fear for a moment is the stuff that changes the trajectory - of our world, of our own lives and humanity at-large.
It sounds more glamorous than it is - of course.
There is nothing "low-key" about deciding to go all-in on your dream.
About being willing to get it wrong - because you will.
Or being willing to look "silly" - because you will.
Or being willing to make the decisions most won't.
To put it on the line - to say the real thing - is the actual price of admission.
Getting to witness artists on stage singing their own words, eyes closed under the light is a holy thing.
Getting to witness *you* doing the very same thing in your life, in your art, in your world is too.
People often have a hard time conceptualizing of poet - business coach - i.e. Me.
And I can't imagine a more honest offering.
In fact, I'm only interested in receiving counsel from people who are crossing these inner thresholds on the regular.
Over to you:
What are you discovering by traversing your own inner terrain these days?
What is asking for your attention?
What is seeking itself through your art?
ftr - we think of business as an art form here...
It's also why I am so excited to share some words from my next book with you.
It's called little big beautiful things and it launches on November 18th!!
Here is a poem from her pages:
Shadows
But do your eyes sparkle when you tell me
about your dreams?
And how many times have you crawled out from the darkness
to remember your light?
The truth is no goal I have ever reached has spared me
from having to meet the parts of myself
I spent so long trying to outrun.
The real victory comes in turning to face our shadows -
realizing that a shadow can exist only when it meets the light.

I will be sharing from little big throughout the week - including how to be a part of my book launch crew!
Wishing you a beautiful and inspired week ahead...
